Rita recently joined our Board of Directors. She is also a volunteer for the Toni & Trish House
Secretary – Michele Vennix
Michele is currently working at The Dow Chemical Company in Midland. She has been helping with the Toni & Trish House benefits for the past couple of years and recently joined the Board. She lives in Auburn with her husband Paul and their two sons.
Treasurer – Matt Mieske
Matt joined our Board of Directors in June of 2015. His mother was a guest at the Toni & Trish House.
Sally is an active caregiver for Toni & Trish House. She lived in the Auburn community for most of her life and now resides in Sanford.
John is youngest son of Toni, his mother. He lives in Midland working as a Project Manager for Fisher Construction. He specializes in hydro-electric dam rehabilitation throughout the United States. Additionally, he is a member of the Knights of Columbus. John has been very active in planning and the construction of the memorial gardens surrounding the house.
Joan is the niece and Godchild of “Trish”. She helps with Come and See open houses, fundraising, Toni and Trish benefits and the Volunteer Quarterly dinners. Originally from Midland, she lives in Breckenridge with her husband Greg, and works at Breckenridge Elementary with Title 1. She is also on the Breckenridge Education Foundation Board and volunteers with many local fundraisers in her community and at church. Joan’s mom, Fay English, was a guest at the Toni and Trish House in 2009.
Mary Shaughnessy, RN
Mary is a volunteer for the Toni and Trish House. She lives in Midland and is married to Kevin. They have three grown children. She recently retired.
Penny is a volunteer for Toni and Trish and recently has taken over as our Events Coordinator. She works full time at Dow Chemical and is involved in a lot of other volunteer organizations.
Director – Kevin Miller, LPN (Non-Voting)
Became involved with the house after his father was a guest in 2010. One year after his fathers passing Kevin came back to the house with his 14 year old daughter to volunteer, while going to nursing school at Mid Michigan Community College. After a short time Kevin became a Care Coordinator at the house as he finished up college. Kevin continued working part time at the house until April of 2012, when he went to work as a substance abuse nurse. Kevin returned to the Toni and Trish House in May of 2015 as the Executive Director.
Dr. Zielke is board certified in internal medicine and palliative care. She served as the medical director of MidMichigan VNA/Hospice for twelve years. She started an in-home palliative care consult service in Midland, Clare and Gladwin counties in 2003.
JoAnne recently retired from the MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland after over 30 years of service. While employed at the medical center, JoAnne was the Continuing Medical Education Coordinator and coordinated educational programs for health professionals. She was also an active volunteer for numerous departments at the medical center. She has lived in Auburn for over 35 years with her husband Bill. Bill and JoAnne have two daughters and five grandchildren.
Dr. Mike Parmer
Dr. Parmer is also board certified Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Palliative care. He serves as Vice-President for Medical Affairs, McLaren Homecare Group. He also serves as Chief Medical Director for Hospice and Palliative Care Programs of McLaren Visiting Nurse and Hospice Program.
Christine Stockford, LLMSW
Christine is a Social Worker at Hospice Advantage. Christine has been involved with hospice care since the age of 16, when she began volunteering. She has held positions within hospice as a Volunteer Coordinator, Bereavement Coordinator and Social Worker. Christine’s passion is working with the terminally ill and their families, providing support and compassion during a difficult time. She resides in Saginaw with her husband and her daughter.
Aaron Oberlin, CFP® Treasurer/Secretary
Aaron is a financial advisor with Rehmann. He has worked at Dow Chemical in Manufacturing and Finance and also owned a retail business in Midland. Aaron graduated from CMU with an MBA and from Michigan Tech with a BS in Chemical Engineering. Aaron is a member of Midland Noon Rotary. He was a Big Brother for ten years.
Becky Chronowski, PA-C – Board President, Nov 2010 – Nov 2011
Becky is a Physician Assistant at Dow Corning Corporation Employee Health Services. She is the niece of Toni Waskevich. She has lived in Midland for the past 16 years with husband, Larry, and two sons. “I am very blessed to be a part of this grassroots effort to provide a place of comfort and caring for the terminally ill. “My Aunt Toni would be very proud.”
Julie has been a life-long resident of Midland and a realtor in Midland for the past 20 years. She and her husband and 2 daughters live in Midland and have been actively involved in the community over the years. Julie would like to see both quality of life and end of life quality care supported in our community.
Deb has been a hospice social worker with MidMichigan Home Care/Hospice for the past 10 yrs. She received her masters in social work from MSU in 1998. She has two grown daughters and has lived in Midland for the past 25 yrs. She became involved in establishing a home for the care of the terminally ill after meeting Trish McKelvey and her family in 2005. She is committed to providing compassionate end of life care to terminally ill patients and their families.
Michelle Waskevich, LBSW
Michelle is the daughter-in-law of Toni Waskevich. Michelle strives to honor Toni’s passion for caring for the terminally ill through a hospice-like home in Midland. She has been a caseworker for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Midland County for the past 11 years.
Carol McPherson, BSN
Carol is an occupational health nurse at Dow Chemical. Her life has been touched by hospice when family members have received care. In her work she has a pulse on the community and recognizes the need for hospice care in Midland. She has been an RN since 1992.
Paula Klose, MD
Paula graduated from MidMichigan Medical Center’s Family Practice Residency in 1986 and has been a family practice doctor in Midland since 1989. She also served as Medical Director for hospice in its early days. Paula believes health care is a cooperative effort between patients and their health care providers.
Barb went through our training and helps with the Volunteer Appreciation Dinners. She lives in Midland.
Aaron was on the Board as our Treasurer. He was on the board from 2008 – 2011. He is a certified financial planner.
Cathy was a board member since October 2013. She helped with Memorial Services for the Toni & Trish House.
Former Director – John S. McKelvey
John, son of Trish (Pat) McKelvey, has volunteered and worked at Mother Teresa House in Lansing. He has an Associate degree in Hospice and Grief Counseling from the Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Hospice training Institute in New Mexico. He also has an Associate degree in Nursing. He has been a Registered Nurse since 1995.
